Plot
During a surveillance in South Block, New Delhi, Major Jai Bakshi (Sidharth Malhotra) overhears a conversation between Retired Lt. Gen Gurinder Singh (Kumud Mishra), an Indian Arms Lobby representative and the Army Chief Pratap Malik (Vikram Gokhale). Gurinder tries to bribe him on behalf of a Czech firm, but threatens to expose the DSD (Data & Systems Diagnostics), a confidential operations unit which Jai is a part of, when Malik doesn't comply. Suspecting a major scam in the army, Jai continues with the surveillance for 2 months before going rogue with his cyber-expert girlfriend Sonia (Rakul Preet Singh), taking along some information related to his organization.
Colonel Abhay Singh (Manoj Bajpayee), Jai's mentor, learns of this and decides to pursue Jai while he's himself pursued secretly by Officer Brig. Srinivas (Rajesh Tailang) who reports his movements to Gurinder. After a meeting with Malik, who explains to him about the real culprit and a powerful arms dealer named Mukesh Kapoor (Adil Hussain), Abhay finds his car pursued and manages to escape while the pursuers sent by Srinivas keep following the car. The DSD shifts their location to an undisclosed location, and Gurinder enlists the help of a journalist named Kamya and provides her sensitive information that can expose the army's secrets.
Jai contacts Kamya and offers her more information in exchange for money. He also contacts Gurinder and demands 100 crore for the information he has. Abhay tracks down Jai's location in London and confronts him. He tries to convince Jai to return to his team, but Jai refuses and escapes. Abhay follows him to Cairo, where Jai meets Sonia and Gurinder's associate. Abhay manages to capture Jai and Sonia and brings them back to India.
Meanwhile, Kapoor meets Malik and reveals that he has been behind the arms deal scam and that he has planted a bomb in his office. He demands Malik to sign the deal or else he will detonate the bomb. Malik refuses and Kapoor triggers the bomb, but it turns out to be a fake one. Malik reveals that he had anticipated Kapoor's move and had switched the bomb with a dummy one. He also tells Kapoor that he has been arrested by the DSD team led by Abhay.
Abhay interrogates Jai and Sonia and learns that they had not sold any information to anyone. Jai reveals that he had planned to expose Gurinder and Kapoor with the help of Kamya and Sonia. He also tells Abhay that he had overheard Gurinder talking to someone named Tariq, who was the mastermind behind the scam. Abhay realizes that Tariq is none other than Baburao Shastri (Naseeruddin Shah), a former army officer who had gone missing 40 years ago and was presumed dead. He also learns that Baburao had been living in a secret location in Mumbai with the help of a local gangster named Chhotu (Anupam Kher).
Abhay and Jai visit Baburao and confront him. Baburao admits that he had been working with Gurinder and Kapoor to expose the corruption in the army and the government. He also reveals that he has a list of all the corrupt officials and politicians involved in the scam and that he is ready to hand it over to Abhay and Jai. However, before he can do so, Gurinder's men attack his hideout and kill him. Abhay and Jai manage to escape with the list and reach the DSD headquarters.
Abhay and Jai hand over the list to Malik, who decides to take action against the culprits. He also pardons Jai and Sonia for their actions and reinstates them in the DSD. Abhay and Jai reconcile and celebrate their victory.
